Wind Turbines To Be Built Far Offshore

Offshore Wind Turbines

Earth is getting more and more polluted therefore we have to develop new technologies that will provide renewable energy that will eventually replace oil and coal. A good way is to build farms and wind turbines and if you thought that we don’t build more because of the costs or efficiency, then you were wrong.

The thing that hinders the construction of wind turbines is their design. They are unsightly but even so I don’t know is this more important than saving our planet. The solution comes from Netherlands-based company called Blue H Technologies and Norway-based SWAY are trying to develop ways to place the wind farms and turbines offshore and another strong reason for that is that there the winds are stronger.

Although there are countries like Denmark and Germany which placed wind turbines far offshore, the technique that Blue H and SWAY is bringing would be better. We hope that they will be successful as the United States will build enough wind turbines for about 40,000 megawatts of energy by 2020.

  1. Wind farms, Luddites and NIMBY, oh my! : Got Renewables?™

[...] Not sure why Luddites would oppose wind (doesn’t this technology sort of ‘take us back’?), but I can see the NIMBY position. Even though modern wind towers are sleek in design, when you group hundreds of them together…they tend to add a little something to the landscape. Hmmmm…I wonder what they would say about wind farms being built in the middle of the ocean….. [...]
