Rock Port City Is 100% Wind Powered

The community from Rock Port, Missouri is celebrating their accomplishment of being ‘100% wind powered’. The energy comes from four wind turbines built on agricultural lands that are estimated to produce 16 million kilowatt hours. The town is expected to use 13 million kilowatt hours of electricity this year.
The energy surplus will be sent to be bought by the Missouri Joint Municipal Utilities, which will use it in other areas of interest. This makes Rock Port the first city in America capable of self-providing its yearly energy requirements. Surely, the town has been using this system for quite some time now, but they thought of taking advantage of it to host a celebration…
