Spitting CobraHerpetologists from Kenya and United Kingdom found a new species of spitting-cobra who is reported to be largest ever discovered. The newfound cobra has its habitation in Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia and it can “deliver more poison than any other cobras that have yet been discovered”. This cobra is also known as Ashe’s spitting cobra or Naja Ashei. It was named after James Ashe, a herpetologist and founder of the Bio-Ken snake farm and research center at Wataman, Kenya. Bio-Ken institute collects venom from snakes for developing antivenin in laboratories. Ashei’s cobra has a maximum length of 9 feet(about 274 centimetres), is easier to handle and it shows less alertness.

Richard Leakey, WildlifeDirect chairman, says that he is excited with the discovery and there are many other undiscovered species but they are being lost as their habitats disappear because of the planet-degradation.
