New High-Speed Railway System In Spain - Faster & Greener
By Nick January 17, 2008

A new railway system has been inaugurated by Spain and should reduce both the pollution and travel time. The new system is called Alta Velocidad Española ( AVE ) and the trains that will travel from Madrid to Málaga are able to hit a speed of up to 350 km/h. Now it only takes 2.5 hours to get from Madrid to Málaga and with the old railway system it took about 4 hours.
The second part of AVE is scheduled to be completed in April and it will connect Madrid to Barcelona. All the system should be finished in 2020 for a total cost of 80.5 billion euros and it should allow people to travel through all of Spain, containing over 10,000 kilometers of railways.
Now it’s even faster and greener to travel by train than plane, in some cases.
