Energy became one of out biggest concerns over the past years when scientists realized that we have to take good care of our planet. Researchers believe that nanotech could be one of the future’s technology. A research team of the Georgia Institute of Technology led by Professor Zhong Lin Wang developed the outfit which could generate power by walking or dancing.
Your portable devices could be plugged-in on your nanowire-embedded clothes - the kevlar material compound with zinc-oxide nanowires and the gold-addition protects and it conducts electricity. Not much power is generated, around tens of miliwatts, but it’s enough to charge portable devices.
According to Professor Wang, if it could produce more energy, the rubbing fibers could power smart fabrics for consumer. Now they are testing this idea and are trying to make this piezoeletric material to be waterproof.
