Make Your Own Energy At Home With Sintex Biogas Digester

By Nick March 12, 2008

Sintex Biogas DigesterAn Indian company called Sintex Industries is looking to develop a revolutionary device that will “eat” waste. The biogas digester, as they dubbed it, will transform human waste and garbage into fuel used for energy or electricity. This project is destined to help India to become greener, healthier and in the same time this is a new way to produce energy.

The digester device is helped by a bacteria to transform the waste into slime and so methan results from the process which is stored in a small container. A Sintex digester that measures one cubic-meter can provide enough energy for a family consisting of four persons, every day. For a model like this, the prize may seem a little too much for most Indian families - $425, but the estimations show that this amount is the equivalent of two year payments.

Sintex has sold about 100 of biogas digester by now and the company is hoping to redouble the installations next year.

I shall write to Sintex to get more details.
What has started me on to this is the sight of hapless calves being let loose in the streets because the numerous small dairy owners can’t afford to feed them or find work for them. Being Hindus they won’t sell them off to the butchers who are Muslims. When we talk of Hindus being kind this attitude is hypocritical; it simply hides our cruelty.
Sintex India needs to promote this in Dehra Dun capital of Uttarakhand through the Government as well where there are numerous small dairies, which have been served notices to move out of the city boundaries because of the problem created by disposal of the dung. But the public needs the milk so the dairies continue under threat of expulsion paying huge fines to cling on.
If Sintex can help to harness the potential from the dung it would help legitimize these dairies, clean up the city, earn money out of the gas and fertilizer and so on plus the dairy owners would need to be put under inspection not to sell milk poisoned by the oxytoxi (correction needed here)injection and to feed the calves till a use can be found for them ( they would help generate gas etc.)
