Green New York City: Bloomberg’s Green NYC Plan Action
By Nick July 23, 2008
Greening the United States’ largest, and arguably most influential, urban center is a feet most politicians would be weary of trying to accomplish, but Bloomberg is still sticking to his Green NYC plan. With 127 green initiatives to be accomplished by 2010, the plan is more than half underway and still a chugging toward its goal to reduce carbon emissions 30% by 2030.

So quick link guide to GreeNYC by Bloomberg:
The Plan - Many different policies address Land, water, transportation, energy, air, and climate change. It’s impossible to outline each general vague heading’s specific initiative, so check out the plan.
Green NYC - offers tips to New York City residents showing them what they can do to help green the city since public policy can’t do it all.
Plan Downloads and reports - Ready to dive into the facts and plan - dowload the entire PDF plans and progress report.
The key to Bloomberg’s Green NYC plan is its breadth and size. He obviously knows there are many, many variables to solving climate change and going green. So it’s not surprising that the slight changes have not made too much noise in the national news.
However, Reuters recently highlighted the changes involved in greening New York’s yellow taxi fleet. With 300 new hybrid vehicles a month from Nissan, Chevy, and Ford, the entire New York City taxi fleet will be hybrid vehicles by 2012.
