Giant Parasails To Reduce The Use Of Oil
By Nick April 21, 2008

Here is a very interesting project that eventually will reduce the need of oil with 35 percent on cargo ships. SkySails, a German-based company, has installed a giant parasails on cargo ships which resulted in 20 percent decrease of the use of oil.
This propulsion system is controlled with the help of a computer which means that it’s automatically deployed and retracted. SkySails tested the parasails on a cargo ship called MV Beluga and the ship successfully crossed over the Atlantic.
It’s a good thing that we can find practical solutions which need the use of wind power and it’s better as SkySails claims that their technology is safe and very efficient.
