Caldera floor of Yellowstone rising three times faster than ever
By Nick November 15, 2007

The Yellowstone National Park is in great danger, due to the caldera floor that moves upward extremely fast and the speed seems to increase. Currently, it is moving three times greater, that it did since 1923, which means almost 3 inches yearly.
Currently, we can’t know if the giant volcano will erupt or the molten rock inflow will stop, so the caldera can deflate.
Seismologist Robert Smith stated that “There is no evidence of an imminent volcanic eruption or hydrothermal explosion, that’s the bottom line” and “A lot of calderas [giant volcanic craters] worldwide go up and down over decades without erupting.”, so the Yellowestone National Park could be lucky.
