Each day, we hear about methods getting the hydrogen-fueled car dream closer. The first automobiles company that started redesigning their cars to be in accordance with the new technology is also one of the biggest manufacturers in the world, BMW.

The BMW Group announced they have developed the first hydrogen fuel tank of the company. It has a third from the weight of a conventional cylindrical steel tank and has a high degree of flexibility, leading to important energy savings. With the subsidiary systems integrated directly into the tank’s casing, it takes less space in the car and the maintenance is also much easier.

The production of the tank is also simplified by its modular basis design, and can allow a range well over 310 miles when filled with ten kilograms of hydrogen. The construction and designing of the concept implied many partnerships for BMW, including several companies from the European aerospace industry.
