Billboard Became a Power Plant due to the Sun
By Nick December 6, 2007

As you’ve seen lately, companies try to profit from anything to produce a bit more green energy and today you’ll see how a California electricity supplier installed a solar-powered billboard that generated even more energy than it uses. This is a great idea and excepting it powers itself, it can also power a four-inhabitants household with the energy produced by it on a sunny day, meaning 3.4 kilowatts. During cloudy days it only produces 2.5 kilowatts, but still it can power itself, so it literally doesn’t consume anything, but produces.
The 20 solar panels roofed billboard can be found in San Francisco, on 1000 Brannan St. Unfortunately, at night it uses electricity, not produced by it, but still it’s daily production compensates this and even more.
This billboard is only for show, as Zelwer says, but they are planning to put it on mass production in the future and that would be great, as more and more gadgets power themselves in the green way and pollute less.
