Agro-Housing

An Israelian design company, Knafo Klimor Architects, has presented a modern urban concept which is destined to prevent the negative effects of the urbanization. According to a report of U.N., about half of the China’s population will settle down in cities by 2010 and the consequences will lead to the fragmentation of communities, exhaust of natural resources, unemployment, soil and air pollution, and the loss of traditions.

The urban concept is named Agro-Housing and it was awarded first place at the second edition of International Architecture Competition for Sustainable Housing. The agro-houses will feature a green roof, gardens to reduce CO2, bicycle parking and will provide locations for professional meetings and gatherings.

The majority of the materials of which the buildings will be constructed, could eventually be recycled. The preliminary estimations say that the cost of construction will be around of $28 per square foot.
