MyBoneYard Reward

I am sure that everybody is frustrated by the junk which gathers in the back of the yard when you replace all your consumer electronics. I know that everyone would do anything to get rid of it and now, MyBoneYard came up with the perfect solution. The company recycles anything beginning with laptops, PC’s, cell phones and displays.

Although you will not get all the amount paid on these oldster electronic, you could get some money for them depending on the device, functionality and physical condition. The best thing is that you don’t have to pay for anything. Good idea from MyBoneYard and we hope to see more like this from other big companies.

Airships

Airplanes are the fastest and the safest way of transporting humans, goods and all kinds of stuff. The only problem is that they pollute a lot. Now, everybody is looking to make greener things and one of their domains is aviation. EcoGeek came up with three aircraft ideas, Aeroscraft for tourists, SkyCat for shipping and SkyFreighter for large cargo transportation.

These ideas seem to be very promising, only if they could get the support they need. We are very confident that in the near future this could be possible.

Raindrops

Researchers of the Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in Grenoble, France, have developed a new way to create energy. According to Jean-Jacques Chaillout and his fellow researchers, piezoelectric materials generate amounts of power when are hit by raindrops.

The piezoelectric materials generate voltage as a response to mechanical power and the falling rain seems to be a perfect source of power. The amount of power generated depends on the size of the raindrops and the rain could be a substitute and a complement of solar panels which aren’t working at night.

These might be a revolutionary idea, but Stephen Roberts of Perpetuum, a company in Southampton, UK says that rain-based piezoelectric materials produces power only at intervals which could exhaust rapidly.

Jaguar

U.S. Government is planning to build a border fence in order to stop illegal immigration, despite that environmentalists say that they will destroy the habitat of some endangered species. According to the Department of the Interior ,the reason they ignored the advices of various sources and specialists is that too few jaguars were seen in the area and that they don’t have any reason to make a recovery plan.

Although the habitat of the jaguar extends from South America to Southern United States, the government says that it depends on the conservation effors of Mexico, Central and South America to create a recovery plan to save the felines. The advantage of the government is that the area where they will build the fence it’s not a protected area for the animals.

Some sources say that with the right tools a man could easily get past the border fence in a few minutes which means that the wall is useless.

The government states that the extinction from US territory of the jaguars will not have any repercussions on any other species. So, it seems there is nothing that could make them to give up on their idea even if everybody and everything is against them.

We really hope that they will change their mind and care more about all endangered species.

MOTOSLVR L7 Hydrogen Fuel Cell

The International Consumer Electronics Show or shortly CES, it’s a trade-only show and it’s considered one of the biggest technology shows in the world. It takes place in Las Vegas every January and the first show was held in June, 1967 in New York.

Angstrom Power is a company which develops fuel cells, it has its headquarters in Vancouver, Canada and it was founded in 2001. Now, they are focusing on hydrogen-based fuel cells and are developing innovative fuel cell prototypes for all kinds of portable devices.

This year at CES, Angstrom Inc., impressed us with a hydrogen fuel cell for the MOTOSLVR L7 handset. The hydrogen mobile phone looks exactly like a regular one because the Canadian company also focused onto designing the batteries to fit perfectly into the cell phones.

Angstrom Power Hydrogen Fuel Cell

According to Angstrom Power, these hydrogen fuel cells last twice longer as the standard lithium-ion batteries and with a recharge time of 10 minutes it surely can pose a threat for all battery-manufacturers. For now, the company is testing the L7 for a six-month period and if all goes right they will start shipping immediately.Still there are some setbacks and probably the biggest is the absence of hydrogen refuel stations which aren’t spread worldwide.

According to Stuart Robinson, Director of Handset Component Technologies at Strategy Analytics Ltd, these innovative batteries represent a better solution for mobile energy and he believes that current lithium-ion batteries are not efficient enough to match future energy demands. Robinson expects Angstrom Inc. to manufacture and sell over a billion products by 2010 which may be a little too ambitious, but you never know.

Not only that the hydrogen fuel cells are greener, but if it were to believe what Angstrom Power say, are performing much better and are more efficient than what current technology provides.
